Italian Travel – that’s Amore

A country of great diversity is Rome. Known as the ‘Belpaese’ or beautiful country, Its long coastline encloses a landscape of fertile plains and forest-covered mountains. From art to food to fashion, Italy has it all. It is also a romantic country and with William and Kate’s wedding on the agenda this year, many British people’s thoughts have turned to ‘amore’.  How about an Italian wedding? It is something many people desire so let’s see what’s on offer.

Which Italian city is the most romantic? In which Italian cities do most wedding proposals take place?  Organising a wedding in Italy might appear a great challenge but it could be simpler than it first appears.
Rome is known as the eternal city and it has been attracting visitors for over two thousand years but it is still one of the most exhilarating and romantic destinations in the world. With its fountains, cobbled piazzas and endless sights it has to be first on the list. Sights not to be missed are the Piazza del Popolo, the Piazza Venezia  (the ‘wedding cake’) and last but not least the Colosseum itself. After a night of wedding revelry, call in the next day for a cappuccino at one of the many pavement cafes and try the speciality chocolate-dipped strawberries on your way to viewing the magnificent dome of St. Peter’s.  Rome has an old-world romanticism which is all its own.

If Rome doesn’t sweep you off your feet, what about Venice? What could be more romantic than to be paddled along the Grand Canal on a gondola under the Bridge of Sighs? Or pay a visit to St Mark’s Square and the Piazza San Marco. Or how about The Lido di Venezia, the beach resort of Venice?  Still known as ‘the Golden Island’ its many beach facilities and hotels fascinate visitors worldwide and attract many celebrities.
If Rome and Venice have not caught your imagination, last but not least what about Florence?  Florence is the most popular city in Tuscany and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Visit the Cathedral, Santa Croce, San Marco, Piazzale Michelangelo and much more.  Source your wine for the big day from the famous wine production area of Chianti, situated between Florence and Siena.

What better place can you think of to get married than in one of the countries that offers so many romantic locations, from the canals of Venice, the hometown of Romeo and Juliet, to  the wonders of Rome, and to the sun and sea of the South.
